Situated at the very beginning of the Stellenbosch wine region, VergenoegdΒ Wine Estate Duck Run is a an experience all of its own.A unique estate in that it also offers a coffee and tea blending experience. With a Saturday market offering differnt foods, treats, clothes not to mention they have live musicΒ too, Vergenoegd caters for just about everyone’s pallet. But the winner for this Wine estate is is Duck run.
Two to Three times a day, Vergenoegd lets their little farm workers out and about for a little exercise in front of the public. I say farm workers because thats exactly what they are. These little guys are let out into the vineyards to help them keep the vines clean of any insects or snails. In return Vergenoegd pay their workers with an estae all of their own and a dam too. They are Indian Runner ducks, roughly there are about 300 of them that waddle around the wine estate. Which is an absolute delight for tourists, families and especially children.
